Supporting Safe, Healthy Parent-Child Relationships

Access and Visitation Services
At Family Pathways, we understand that children thrive when they have meaningful, consistent relationships with their parents, provided those connections are safe and nurturing. Our Access and Visitation services are designed to support families during challenging times, with the goal of strengthening family relationships while prioritizing children's safety and well-being.
These services are typically court-ordered, and referrals often come from Children and Youth Services. All programs are guided by two important principles:
-
Children do best when they have reliable, ongoing relationships with both parents.
-
Children’s emotional and physical safety must always be protected.

WHY SUPERVISED VISITATION?
Supervised visitation ensures that children can safely spend time with a parent in a secure, structured environment.
We offer a variety of visitation levels including supervised, therapeutic, off-site, monitored and monitored exchanges.
Types of Services Offered
Supervised Visitation
Visits take place in our visitation suites or designated community sites and are supervised by trained Visit Supervisors who ensure the safety and comfort of all participants.
Therapeutic Supervised Visitation
Led by licensed therapists, these visits include therapeutic support to strengthen the parent-child relationship. Therapists focus on issues like trauma, attachment, and emotional safety.
Off-Site Supervised Visitation
Once visits are going smoothly, they may transition to pre-approved locations (within 5 miles of Family Pathways) that are age-appropriate and safe. These visits are still monitored by trained staff.

Monitored Visits
For situations where safety concerns have decreased, visits are checked periodically by a
professional rather than continuously supervised. This service is also useful when a parent lacks a safe space for visits due to housing or travel challenges.
Monitored Exchanges
When direct contact between parents is not appropriate, our staff facilitate safe child exchanges to ensure smooth transitions between households.
